If you've started a website, you're probably going to need some affiliates. You've probably seen them on different Pokemon sites on the web, and you're wondering what they are. Put simply, affiliation is a simple way to get more hits.

What is affiliation?

Affiliation is when two sites agree to put up each other's link on their site. For example, imagine Site A and Site B. If Site A decides to affiliate with site B, then Site A would put Site B's URL (link) on its site, and vice versa.

What is the point of affiliation?

The point of affiliation? Imagine a person just so happened upon Site B's site. Well, since Site B had Site A's link up, that person will see the link and may visit your site. It's a win-win situation for both sites.

Yes. You can exchange buttons, banners, and many more things. Usually buttons are used for more important or bigger sites -- they are bigger and stand out more.

Ok. I found a site I want to affiliate with. How do I do it?

Follow these steps:

1. Check your site out. Make sure it meets the requirements of the site you want to affiliate with.

2. E-Mail the webmaster. "Hi, [name of webmaster]. My name is [your name] and I am the webmaster of [your site]. [Say something nice about his or her site] I would like to affiliate with you. Thanks, [your name]

3. Wait for a reply!If you get accepted, put up the text/image link IMMEDIATELY. If you are denied, fix the things the other webmaster said to fix, then try again. Never repeatedly ask a webmaster to affiliate with you. This will only ruin your chances of being accepted.
